Online Information on Parenting Workshop
KRC has been contracted by the Ministry of National Security to implement educational programmes under the Citizens Security and Justice Programme. Through this initiative, KRC is seeking to improve the educational performance of targeted young people and adults in the communities of August Town, Ambrook Lane/Cassia Park, Denham Town, Grants Pen, Hannah Town, Kencot, Mountain View, Rockfort, Trench Town and Waterhouse.
In order for this to be accomplished, a number of intervention plans are being implemented in all communities. At present:
- Homework assistance is being delivered to 1665 primary school students;
- Tuition in CXC mathematics and English is being delivered to 395 youth and adults;
- Remedial Education and Training is being delivered to 652 youths and adults
In order to tackle the high levels of delinquency KRC has proposed
secured approval and implemented a parenting component. This component
facilitates the participation of parents and guardians of students with
a view to improving and maintaining the attendance levels. The
objectives of the “Parenting Programme” are outline below;
OBJECTIVES:
- Improve the attendance of the student/participants in the programme
- Empower parents so that they will be able to assist their children with their assignments
- Improve the communication skills of the parents
- Assist in building positive relationships between children and parents
- Equip parents with the skills necessary to assist their children to develop self-discipline and by extension to develop themselves.
